Shermco’s Mike Moore to present papers at Region VI VPP Safety Conference

Mike Moore, vice president of Shermco Industries, the Irving, Tex.-based provider of testing, repair, and maintenance of rotating apparatus and electrical power distribution systems, will be presenting four papers at the 2012 Region VI VPP Safety Conference, May 15-18, at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

On Wednesday, May 16, 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M., he will present “Developing an Electrical Multi-Employer Worksite Protection Program,” that will provide an overview of OSHA’s Multi-Employer Worksite Policy CPL 02-00-124.

Later that day at 1:45 P.M. to 2:45 P.M., Moore will present “Electrical Safety Urban Legends,” that will cover the myths that seem to challenge the safety manager when it comes to protecting electrical workers.

Thursday, May 17, 1:15 P.M. to 2:15 P.M., “The Challenges to Finding and Retaining Qualified Electrical Workers,” will be presented by Moore. It will explore the aging American workforce, declining numbers of new skilled workers entering the labor pool, the changing American employment landscape, and the rising costs of keeping skilled electrical workers on staff and possible consequences and outcomes for the aging electrical power generation infrastructure.

Later on Thurs. at 2:45 P.M. to 3:45 P.M., Moore will present “Safety Role Playing,” to help define the components of a well thought out safety strategy.
