Shermco Industries enters exclusive agreement with FLIR

Shermco Industries, the Irving, Tex. provider of testing, repair, training, maintenance and analysis of rotating apparatus and electrical power distribution systems, has entered into an exclusive agreement to sell FLIR Infrared Windows. The windows are a safety product installed on electrical cabinets to safeguard electrical workers from the risk of hazardous arc flash incidents.

FLIR IR Windows can be installed using the same design as common conduit connections. They are broadband crystal IR windows in which the lens is encased in rugged, anodized aluminum frame allowing for indoor and outdoor scans.

“Opening an electrical cabinet to perform IR and visual inspections of live components is extremely dangerous work, exposing an electrical worker to the risk of hazardous arc flash injuries and even death,” said Mike Moore, vice president of Shermco. “Performing these inspections wearing the proper protective equipment (PPE) is a painstaking, time-consuming process, requiring at least two qualified personnel. These FLIR IR windows eliminate the danger, the PPE hassle and the need for extra qualified workers.”

FLIR is a Wilsonville, Ore.-based provider of thermal imaging and motion control systems.
