Leviton employees donate more than five tons of food to local food banks across U.S.

Leviton, the Melville, N.Y.-based producer of electrical and electronic products, announced that employees donated more than five tons – or 10,700 pounds – of non-perishable food items to local food banks as part of the company’s East vs. West National Food Drive. In addition to the food donations, the company is also making a corporate monetary donation to a local food bank as a way to lend additional assistance to the cause.

The food drive was derived from employees in Bothell, Wash.,  who had been conducting local food drives. Once the drive was expanded nationally, the competition aspect encouraged participation among all employees.

Employees Leviton’s facilities across the U.S., including Melville, N.Y.; Bothell, Wash.; Tualatin, Ore.; St. Charles, Ill.; Chula Vista, Calif.; Spanish Springs, Nev.; El Paso, Tex.; Itasca, Ill.; Long Beach, Calif.; West Jefferson, N.C.; Morganton, N.C.; Lebanon, Tenn.; and Marietta, Ga., worked together to collect the food at each location and will donate it directly to the local food shelters of choice.
