October EA preview: Rugged environment equipment for field services

In the October issue of Electrical Apparatus, Fast Forward will spotlight how equipment built to operate in harsh usage conditions are giving field service engineers fewer headaches. One minor case of the “dropsies” can lead to significant damage to sensitive equipment like laptops and multimeters, and the damage can continue on to the unlucky employee’s wallet.

Examples of such rugged equipment include ‘tough books’ that are built to withstand large drops, water, and scratches, and protective cases customized to suit iPads and specific electrical testing instruments.

Also, three field service employees from electromechanical repair companies will outline their experiences with damaged equipment and give their thoughts on tough hardware.
