ABB opens service center in Singapore

Swiss automation and power technology provider ABB has opened Jurong Island Service Center as part of a strategic move to be closer to customers on the industrial island off the southwestern coast of Singapore.

ABB calls service one of its “key focus areas,” and the company provides support for a wide range of its products, including engineering, consulting, modernization, and maintenance services, as well as training for various ABB products.

“Service is a major growth area for ABB,” says Haider Rashid, country manager of ABB in Singapore. “Over the past two years, ABB has made significant investments in service around the world, primarily through investing in our people, as well as developing our offerings through R&D. This new service center is an important milestone for us, demonstrating our commitment to Singapore and to our customers here.”

ABB recently won its first order for service to be conducted through the new center. The order, worth the equivalent of about $1 million U.S., includes products and services from across the ABB portfolio for a customer on Jurong Island.

The 150-square-meter Jurong Island Service Center includes a ground-floor workshop and office space.
