May EA Preview: Battery life for electrical equipment

We’ve all seen it: the dreaded low-battery icon. It can appear on the display screen as a flashing empty battery symbol or a single red bar but it always means the same thing. Your device is about to run out of power. Whether it is a laptop or cellphone to communicate with customers or an electrical tester or multimeter to service equipment, nothing is more essential than the power that allows your device to work.

“Running on Empty” the Fast Forward column for May’s Electrical Apparatus Magazine will cover the process product developers at Fluke Corp. go through to determine battery type and battery life. Benefits and drawbacks of disposable, rechargeable, alkaline, and lithium-ion batteries will also be presented along with tips to conserve batteries for laptops and cell phones.
