Motor demands tail off during second quarter of 2014

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association’s Motors Shipments Index tailed off from a near three year high during the second quarter of 2014, registering a decline of 1.8%. The index improved on a year-over-year basis for the second consecutive quarter, posting an increase of 5%.

Inflation adjusted shipments of fractional horsepower motors during the January to June period bested first half 2013 by almost 29%. Integral horsepower motor shipments during the first half of 2014 climbed 6.1% compared to the same period a year ago.
