Dept. of Energy to host manufacturing innovation workshop

The Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) and the Office of the Secretary of Defense Manufacturing Technology Program (OSD ManTech) will host “Manufacturing Innovation Topics” workshop October 8-9, 2014 at the Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel in Fort Worth, Tex.

Attendees will discuss AMO’s recent Request for Information (RFI) on Clean Energy Manufacturing Topic Areas as well as the recent areas of interest announced by OSD ManTech for a new Manufacturing Innovation Institute. The Technical Focus Areas for each office are:

Department of Energy:

  • Advanced Materials Manufacturing
  • Advanced Sensing, Control, and Platforms for Manufacturing
  • High-Efficiency Modular Chemical Processes
  • High Value Roll-to-Roll Manufacturing

Department of Defense:

  • Engineered Nanomaterials
  • Modern Fiber and Textiles

AMO and OSD ManTech seek information on mid-Technology Readiness Level (TRL) research and development needs, market and supply chain challenges, and shared facility needs for advanced manufacturing. The offices would like to know what roadblocks to advanced manufacturing technology potentially could be overcome by pre-competitive collaboration as part of a Manufacturing Innovation Institute.
