Current electroindustry business conditions index grows

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association’s Electroindustry Business Conditions Index (EBCI) for current conditions in North America improved to 58.3 in October as the share of panelists reporting improved conditions rose by a larger amount than the share reporting they worsened. One-third of the panelists said the business environment improved in October, up from 24% in September, while 17% claimed it deteriorated in October compared to 10% in September.

Meanwhile, the EBCI for future North American conditions fell for a second consecutive month in October, dropping to 55.6. One-third of panelists said they expect conditions to improve over the next half-year compared to 22% reporting that they anticipate a near-term deterioration in the business environment. In September, 57% expected an improvement against only 5% expecting a deterioration.
