William “Bill” Austin has been in the motor repair business since 1957. His last employer, MN-Iowa Electric Motors & Equipment, said that “he will be greatly missed…for his knowledge of motors and ability to fix anything” upon his departure July 22.

Austin co-owned Rewind Associates in Mason City, Ia., for a decade spanning the mid 1980s to 1996. From there he worked a five-year period for C&L in Garner, Ia., from 1996-2001. His next stop would ultimately be his curtain call, as he capped of the celebrated career with a 15-year run at MN-Iowa Electric.

A statement released by MN-Iowa Electric Monday, in the Globe Gazette of Mason City, stated that “Bill has been a dedicated and loyal employee who would open the shop before or after off hours to address customers’ need. He will be greatly missed by our customers and MN Iowa Electric Motors for his knowledge of motors and ability to fix anything. We will miss Bill’s smile and sense of humor. Best wishes Bill and enjoy your retirement!”
