Preformed Windings announces North American expansion

English coil manufacturer Preformed Windings has announced it will open a new manufacturing facility in the U.S. to supply rapid response coils for medium and high voltage applications. For our regular readers, this is the second onshore plant opening we’ve reported on in this newsletter in as many weeks. We’re officially on a streak.

Following the creation of its new purpose-built manufacturing facility in Sheffield, England in 2016 and the expansion of its sales operations in North America over the last two years, Preformed opted to ride the wave of U.S. momentum and will open the facility in Birmingham, Ala., in the second half of 2017, per a company press release.

The new facility is expected to provide closer access to the growing demand for HV coils in North American markets. While Preformed has established American relationships over the past few years, the company sees the HV coil market as a snowballing area to enhancing those with its existing and new customer base.

Frank Barrett, CEO of Parsons Peebles Group, comments: “From the outset of our journey with Preformed Windings it has always been our intention to deliver outstanding quality of both product and service to our customers. This expansion of our already market leading manufacturing capability is not only very exciting it is also to support our valued customers who have supported us over the last few years and aims to continue to improve upon the service we provide them already. I look forward to the opening of the facility and being able to welcome our in region customers the opportunity to readily be part of our customer experience”
