Westerpark Wind

All-electric Dutch hotel powered entirely by wind

A country famous for its windmills is living up to its reputation. The Netherlands’ first fully electric hotel, Conscious Hotel Westerpark, which will open in April, is now taking reservations. The all-electric hotel will get its juice entirely by wind power. The Westerpark location will become the fourth property of sustainable hotel chain Conscious Hotels, which for the past year has employed SiteMinder, to market and sell its rooms online, Esther Hertzfeld of Hotel Management reported January 4. All four Conscious locations are in Amsterdam. A quick view of the Vondelpark location can be seen in the video below.

“Instant channel updates, real-time reservation delivery and high reliability are the main reasons for us furthering our SiteMinder partnership, and the expected occupancy levels upon the opening of Conscious Hotel Westerpark is validation of those reasons,” said Rob van Hemert, head of marketing and innovation at Conscious Hotels, in a statement. “Additionally, the configuration and integration process with SiteMinder has always been fast and uncomplicated. The user-friendly interface of their technology and their efficient customer support have been always a huge plus as well.”

The hospitality group’s other hotels all emphasize sustainability and eco-friendliness as well. These include the Conscious Hotel Vondelpark, Conscious Hotel Museum Square and The Tire Station, all three of which are in Amsterdam. has played an important role during every step of the Westerpark property’s development, from its 89 rooms to its restaurant which features eco-materials and a fully-organic menu.
