Pumps in Phoenix

In the prototypical American “oasis” city, pumps are the nervous system

Another September, another acquisition for PumpMan.

The Saddlebrook, N.J.-based company originated in Southern California prior to being bought by Soundcore Holdings in 2015. Its West Coast presence was bolstered through that acquisition, and the pump service and maintenance company added multiple locations since. It has now added another traditional electric motor repair shop to its team. The purchase of Scott’s AZ Motor Electric Repair, of Phoenix, is PumpMan’s second in one of the country’s premier pump markets. Scott’s provides service and repair for mechanical components such as motors, pumps, head pulleys, fans, blowers, and motor controls for the commercial and industrial segments.

“As PumpMan expands its network of high-quality service centers around the U.S., it’s only natural that we add a company with complementary competencies like Scott’s,” said Donald Devine, President and CEO of PumpMan. “As one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S., Phoenix is an ideal market for expansion of the network. With the acquisition of Scott’s and the recent purchase of Southwest Waterworks Contractors, we now offer comprehensive pump system repair services to the region.”

Post-close, former Scott’s AZ owners Scott Sleeth and Judd Whalen will continue to lead the company supporting future growth initiatives, it said September 17 in a press release. As part of its growing network, the company will transition to “A PumpMan Phoenix Company” later this year.

“PumpMan provides the opportunity to build on Scott’s prior success, invest for growth, and offer increased opportunities for our employees and the market,” said Sleeth. “The acquisition marks a new and exciting chapter for the company, and Judd and I look forward to being a part of the growing PumpMan network.”

Dating back to 1976, PumpMan is a leading nationwide provider of pump service and repair. The company focuses on serving the needs of pump end-users to optimize the performance and reliability of their pumping systems.

With roots in Southern California, PumpMan provides onsite service, repair, parts and expertise to the commercial, municipal and industrial markets in Southern California (PumpMan SoCal), Northern California (Bartley Pump and GroundWater Pump & Well) Philadelphia (PumpMan Philly), Phoenix (Southwest Waterworks Contractors), Pittsburgh (PumpMan Pittsburgh), and the New York Metro Area (Federal Pump). PumpMan seeks to expand its service network by acquiring well established pump sales, service and repair companies in major markets in North America.
