Precision Expands

Birmingham location will house Coil & Rotor, High Voltage divisions

Precision Coil and Rotor, the industrial service company dedicated to the manufacturing and rebuilding of component products for rotating electrical machines up to 13.8 kV, is expanding its high voltage division, the company announced in an October 17 press release sent to Electrical Apparatus. Precision High Voltage, which is currently located at 3130 3rd Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35233, will be moving into the recently expanded 5300 East Lake Boulevard location – to support the growth of new and existing customers located in the US and Canada. The 61,000 square foot facility will now house both Precision Coil and Rotor and Precision High Voltage.

“This expansion is a direct result of the significant growth in demand for high voltage coils,” said David Hyde, President of Operations for PC&R. “Over the years, we have outgrown three separate buildings and are continuing to grow exponentially. Our team is very excited about the future of Precision High Voltage. Having both Precision Coil and Rotor and Precision High Voltage in the same building will help support the growth of new and existing customers. Precision Coil and Rotor moved into this building several years ago with the idea that one day we would expand, and that day has come.”

The company has recently invested an additional $2 million in capital expenditures on state-of-the-art coil manufacturing equipment as well as a 10-foot, fully automated Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) System.

In addition to high voltage coils, Precision manufactures DC coils, armature coils, synchronous rotor coils, wound rotor coils, holding coils, specialty coils, transformers, steam and hydro turbine generator coils. The industrial service company says it remains dedicated to manufacturing and rebuilding of component products for rotating electrical machines up to 13.8 kV: “Our core business is form coil manufacturing and associated services for AC and DC electric motors and generators,” the press release concluded.
