BPMA Awards

Plenty of familiar names walked home with accolades this year in Oxfordshire

A number of companies synonymous with the pages of EA took home awards in the pump industry this year at the 2019 BPMA Pump Industry Awards, which took place March 21 at Heythrop Park Country Resort in Oxfordshire, England.

Armstrong Fluid Technology’s Design Envelope Tango pump has been awarded the accolade of Environmental Contribution of the Year. Siemens took home the Judges Special Award. WEG, which was a primary sponsor for the event, presented a number of these awards, including the one that went to Siemens. Manufacturer of the Year—which was sponsored by Siemens (you staying with me here?)—went to Wilo Pumps UK. Product of the Year went to Xylem Water Solutions for its Flygt Concertor XPC.

Founded by the British Pump Manufacturers Association (BPMA) in 2000, the Pump Industry Awards program celebrates the outstanding achievements of pump companies and individuals.

Regarding Armstrong’s noted award, judges commented on Tango pump’s “impressive levels of efficiency and innovative parallel sensorless pump control” feature, Armstrong said in a press release sent to Electrical Apparatus April 29. “Using advanced design, embedded intelligence and connectivity, as well as motor efficiency exceeding the IE4 standard, Tango pumps promise to deliver energy savings of more than 30% compared to traditional approaches.”

Wayne Rose, Armstrong’s UK Acquisition Integration Leader, who accepted the award on behalf of Armstrong Fluid Technology said, “These awards are particularly important to our industry because they focus entirely on pump technology and celebrate the achievements of the world’s very best fluid technology design engineers. We’re extremely proud that our Design Envelope Tango pump has been selected for this award from a shortlist of outstanding examples of new product design.”
