Garber Electric bought by L&S, combining two industry stalwarts in Midwest

Two Midwest-based industry stalwarts, well-versed in the world of electrical repair and maintenance, are now part of the same team. Look out, heartland! Garber Electric, the Ohio-based contractor, was bought by L&S Electric, the well-known Wisconsin-based repair operation you may have seen in the pages of EA over the years, according a business brief in the Chippewa Herald, a local newspaper based in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

Garber specializes in the areas of electrical lighting & power, generators, telecommunications, data networking, fire alarm, surveillance, and access control services in Dayton, Columbus and the surrounding areas, with an additional office in Columbus, as well. The company, founded in 1975 “by request of neighbors and friends needing electrical work”, per its website, has clients in commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, agricultural, residential, and public facility applications, and in the states of Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. Founder Gary Garber learned the trade at Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) and began wiring for friends and neighbors while attending school.

The new operation will have the L&S, Inc. name, but plans to retain all current employees, according to an acquisition announcement obtained by the Chippewa Herald.

Jeremy Lewitzke, L&S president, said in an announcement that they were eager to bring the established Chippewa Falls team into their organization and add the support of L&S’s wide range of services and products.

“Both L&S and Garber’s Electric customers will see the same familiar faces as we continue to grow our business and capabilities in Western Wisconsin,” Lewitzke said.

L&S, meanwhile, has also been one of the country’s most consistent motor repair providers for 35 years, with a scope of work including new electrical equipment, electromechanical repair, power and reliability services, hydro-solutions and more. In addition to their headquarters in Schofield, the company has operations in Rothschild, Appleton, Sturtevant (all in Wisconsin), as well as Iron Mountain, Mich., Minneapolis, Minn., and Lubbock, Texas.
