Executive moves from ABB to IPS
Some might consider it a Christmas present; being named to a new position right before the holidays instead of having the day off. That’s how it went for at least one executive this year, as he moved from one prominent motor/generator company to another, picking up three new letters of the alphabet in the process.
Stuart Cheek (pictured, below right) was recently named vice president and general manager of hydro generator services and field services at the Greenville, S.C.-based Integrated Power Services, the company said in a press release dated November 18.
Well-respected in the plant industry, Cheek joins IPS from ABB, where he most recently served as director of large motors and generators. He also held roles as the general product manager and plant manager of ABB Kings Mountain/Shelby (north of the border in North Carolina) Custom Motor Plants. As a 30-plus year industry veteran, Cheek has experience in quality, materials, manufacturing, engineering, production, facility management and general management.
He’s also familiar with the region, as a graduate of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C. He has an AAS degree in mechanical engineering technology and also carries a technical diploma in machining from Asheville Buncombe Technical College.
