Nothing Too Heavy

Memphis equipment company’s electric motor repair division acquired

Howard Acquisitions, Inc., is prepared to do some Heavy lifting. It has acquired the electric motor repair division of Heavy Machines, Inc., of Memphis, Tennessee, per a company email to Electrical Apparatus May 12.

There’s nothing too heavy for this repair operation, which specializes in cranes and forestry equipment.

Heavy Machines is known for, well, heavy, equipment sales. This encompasses parts & service of forestry equipment, logging machines, port handling, earth moving & scrap material handling equipment nationwide. The electric motor repair division provides in-shop and in-plant apparatus repairs and service throughout Western Tennessee and the surrounding four state area. The company has nine locations total, two of which are in Maine.

Jay Nelson, president of Heavy Machines, said the divestiture of the motor repair division will allow both companies to grow strategically in their respective markets. Joe Howard, president of Howard Acquisitions, is an experienced motor repair executive. He indicated that the motor repair division was an excellent platform for expanding electrical apparatus service and sales in and beyond the current market area.  The company will do business as Good Fruit Electric.
